Description

The Cyrix battery combiner is a microprocessor-controlled resistive relay that automatically connects batteries in parallel when one of them has reached the preset voltage level (indicating that the battery is charged) and disconnects when the battery voltage is below the set level (indicating that one/multiple batteries are discharged). The Victron Cytron Cyrix-Li-Charge 12/24V-120A prevents under-voltage, over-voltage and overheating of cells.

In order to prevent irreversible damage or premature ageing, essential protective measures must be provided with LiFePO4 batteries:, an essential protective measure is:

• Automatic interruption of charging in situations of imminent cell undervoltage.
• Disconnection or regulation of the charging current in critical conditions such as impending overvoltage, high temperatures (above 50 °C) or negative temperatures (below 0 °C) affecting the cells.

Typically BMS (Battery Management System) provides battery protection under these conditions. It is important to note that battery BMS can NOT control all loads or charging devices. Victron Energy Cyrix-Li-Charge 12/24V-120A are a versatile solution that can be controlled by BMS to effectively disconnect loads or charging devices that otherwise could not be directly managed. The combination of the Victron Energy Cyrix-Li-Charge and the battery's BMS is a complete protection system for LiFePO4 batteries. This strategy ensures not only efficient operation but also long battery life, supporting the reliability and durability of these energy storage systems.
