Victron Energy XS 12V/12-50A DC-DC Booster Charger

By using engine power to charge the service battery, the Orion XS DC-DC charger combines impressive power with an ultra-compact, fanless design. The Orion XS supports any type of alternator and battery with configurable voltage and current, achieving 98.5% efficiency and maintaining maximum rated power even at 40 °C/104 °F. It draws a stable load from Euro 5/6 smart alternators, preventing undercharging of the service battery. The 4-stage charging algorithm adapts to the degree of discharge, extending battery life for all common types of chemical composition.

The Orion XS 1400 is a new-generation model, far more efficient and powerful than the classic Orion-Tr Smart series. The main advantages are:

• Charging capacity: The Orion XS can deliver a current of up to 50A or a total power of 700W. By comparison, the most popular Orion-Tr Smart models are limited to 30A (approx. 360W–400W).
• Efficiency: The XS has an efficiency of 98.5%, whilst the Orion-Tr Smart only reaches around 87%. This high efficiency means that almost all the energy from the alternator reaches the battery, rather than being lost as heat.

• Temperature: The Orion-Tr Smart is known for getting very hot (over 100°C in some cases) and automatically reducing its power to protect itself. The Orion XS stays much cooler and can maintain maximum power up to ambient temperatures of 40°C.
• Dimensions: Although more powerful, the Orion XS is significantly smaller and lighter (up to 5 times lighter) as it no longer requires the massive aluminium heat sinks of the older model
